There's so much more that meets the EAR!" Course Syllabus MODULE 1 :UNDERSTANDING RADIO AS A MEDIUM This is an introduction to the medium, looking at it's strengths and limitations. Radio's unique characteristics will also be discussed. How we can better plan our programmes by utilising its unique features. MODULE 2 :THE FORMAT CLOCK AND IT'S PROGRAMMING ELEMENTS This will highlight the programming format clock and how programming is designed around it. We will examine other elements on the clock, like station liners, trailers, commercials, etc. What are the reasons why some of these elements are located at certain times and why is the programming clock sacred? MODULE 3 :PLAYLISTS AND MUSIC SCHEDULING/ROTATIONS Why are playlists necessary? Can't DJs play their own music? How is the playlist scheduled and songs selected? What are music auditorium tests, and how are music meetings conducted? MODULE 4 :SOUL CONNECTION WITH YOUR LISTENERS Know your listeners, who are they, where are they, what do they want to hear, how to say things that they wish to hear, what are the things that relate to them? The power of soul connection with your listeners. MODULE 5 :SHOW PREPARATION What is show preparation, how to prepare, how to use show preparation effectively on air? Isn't radio supposed to be impromptu? Let a DJ tell you how its done. MODULE 6 :VOICE CONTROL TECHNIQUES How do you project your voice while on air? Why do professional DJs always sound so good and relaxed? Find out their secrets on voice control. MODULE 7 :ADDITIONAL ELEMENTS THAT MAKE RADIO TICK Discover what are some of the tricks DJs employ to make their shows sound better. How to maximise the use of listeners' phone calls, sound effects, etc. MODULE 8 :7 HABITS OF A HIGHLY EFFECTIVE DJ Now that you have mastered the basics, let us share with you the habits of a good radio DJ.
